Transforming your BathroomLuxury and relaxation in our bathrooms can be a blessing. We all lead busy lives, so we need any chance to enjoy a bit of it. Even the smallest space can be transformed into a pampering zone. You do need to think about your requirements before you start stripping tiles and selecting taps. The right layout, bath ware, and storage can transform a small, boring bathroom into your own boutique. Here are a few tips to help you do it:

  • Consider the SizeSmall space can work as a stylish and functional family bathroom if done properly. Consider a separate bath and shower, plenty of storage, and fuss-free finishes for a contemporary look. If room size will allow it, twin basins and a separate toilet can be used. These elements make the morning routine for everyone easier.

When designing a smaller bathroom, a compact or corner bath might be required. If you are busy couple, you may live without a bath and prefer a high-tech showerhead with pulsating jets or a stylish rain shower.

  • Design a Floor PlanWhen renovating a bathroom, a well-thought-out layout is essential. This takes a bit of time and consideration. You need to measure your space, and draw the layout to scale on graph paper. Note doors, windows, and fixtures. Try different options, but allow enough room to open the shower doors and have a free wall to use for more towel rails.New plumbing can increase your budget, even though moving fixtures may be tempting. To save money, replace your bath ware and tiles, and add new storage and lighting for a new look.

If you want a large bath in a small space, you can compromise by a smaller vanity or shower/ bath combination. There are minimum space requirements:

  • Basin: clear space of 700mm from the front of the basin to the nearest wall
  • Toilet:at least 600mm in front of the toilet and 200mm on either side of the bowl
  • Bath: average approximately 1700mm long and 800mm wide
  • Shower: at least 800 x 800mm for recess
  • Beginning your Bathroom TransformationThis is never a one-person job. It involves carpentry, plumbing, electrical, sheeting, waterproofing, tiling, sealing, plastering and painting. This can involve removing old fittings, choosing bath ware items, patching walls for tiling, and painting.

For all the other technical jobs, it’s essential to bring in a tradesman. When selecting a building team or sub-contractors, it is important to check their licenses and references.

  • When Renovating you Should Look for
  • The latest trendsfrom freestanding bath tubs to vanity units with faux stone tops. You can choose from brilliant white to dark granite.
  • Time-tested items—classic white bath ware items and chrome tap ware unbeatable options.
  • Up-to-the-date fittings—choose from different shapes and styles in your preference such as a square-shaped hard-edged basin or a soft round version—whatever works for you.
  • Luxuries if budget allows—look for the latest range of heated and illuminated mirrors that resist fogging up, as well as a selection of elongated stainless-steel shower grates that run the full width of the shower recess.
